Your memory helps keep them known
What you are being asked
We are gathering photos, videos, stories, and memories of a person, so their children can know them through the people who did. If you have a photo or video, please share it. If you don’t, a memory, a story, or a few lines about how you remember them would still mean a great deal.
You do not need to sum them up. One memory is enough.
What it takes
One link, opened on whatever you are already holding. No account, no password, nothing to install. A few minutes is plenty, and you can come back and change what you wrote afterwards.
You will not be asked how you knew them before you write anything. If you are asked at all, it comes after — nobody has to justify their place in someone’s life in order to say something about them.
If the link will not open at work
Some workplaces block sites they have not seen before, and uploads more often than pages. If that happens, the same link works on your phone — every invitation carries a code you can scan to move it across. Failing that, the person organising the book can add something on your behalf.
What your email address is used for
Only these:
- the link to edit what you wrote
- a confirmation that your contribution arrived
- an annual reminder about the board, if you ask for one
- a thank-you passed on from the person organising it
- a preview of the book, if they choose to share one
- a copy of the book, if they choose to offer one
It is not used for marketing unless you ask for that, and it is not shared with the person organising the book unless you choose to share it.
Who sees what you write
The person organising the book, and in the end the person it is about. Not the other contributors — nobody sees anyone else’s messages, and nobody is shown who has or has not written something.
